You gotta be tough to survive in Port Charles, and anyone who’s ever seen Carly swing a baseball bat at a baddie or Courtney wield a weapon knows that doesn’t just go for guys. Luckily, their portrayers – Tamara Braun and Alicia Leigh Willis, respectively – logged a lot of “tough chick” hours as children, much to the dismay of their dolls! “I would actually burn the legs of my sister’s Barbie dolls,” admits Willis. Her confession elicits an understanding laugh from Braun, who says, “I took Barbie dolls and shaved their heads and put them in dye.” Ah, the joys of childhood! But the extreme dolly makeovers didn’t stop there! “I’d put pins in them,” recalls Braun. “I was sick!” Although Braun says she wasn’t exactly a tomboy growing up, the beauty doesn’t deny that she wasn’t all sugar and spice and everything nice. “I was a big dork,” the actress proclaims with a big smile. “Stringy, curly, knotted, snarled-up hair that was always messy.” And no wonder! Like Carly, Braun wasn’t one to sit and watch life pass her by. “I loved to climb trees and stuff like that. I played in the dirt. But then I definitely had my very girly side, too.”
